What's it for? Plinth is cut into short blocks and installed below door casing where the base would meet the casing.  Base profiles are typically thicker than casing. The plinth, however, is thicker than the casing and accomodates the thicker base. The plinth profile's plain, angular lines follow the lines and curves of its companion casing. Plinth blocks are often cut 1/4-inch taller than the base.
